Empathy, although a widely used term, is often confused with sympathy. Many people think they’re being empathetic when they’re being sympathetic because they feel sorry for the person, and don’t know how to respond or relate to the feelings of the other person. However, the ability to experience the feelings of another person and understand something from their perspective is called Empathy.
It is putting ourselves in their shoes and taking into consideration all the factors involved in the circumstances they are going through. Can you imagine having friends who do not understand you? Or how tired you feel when you try hard to explain yourself?
It need not be necessarily only understanding someone’s pain; it can also be about sharing their joy.
